Guys! Finals are over, and there are still 13 days between now and the start of my summer classes, which means it is high time for a little getaway. For the past three years my fiance and I have gone to Las Vegas in the spring, and it has become a tradition of sorts to escape to there once I have finished with finals [I mean, what better way to celebrate the end of a law school year?]. I don’t even gamble while I’m there; instead, you can find me relaxing by the pool, or sipping on a cocktail in a bar overlooking a golf course.

What I love most about going to Vegas is that it is truly an escape from the everyday routine – for instance, it is perfectly acceptable to lounge by the pool until noon, and casually have a drink while walking through one of the beautiful casino malls before heading to dinner. I also don’t get dressed up very often [I don't have many occasions that call for dresses and heels], which is why I am so happy to be able to break out my favorite wedges, high-heeled sandals, and summer dresses over the next three days!

Okay, back to what this post is actually about – the makeup I am bringing with me! I normally have such a tough time narrowing down which products I am taking with me when I go home for a long weekend; I usually wind up throwing most of my collection into a bag so I don’t have to make any choices. I am very happy with my very edited Vegas makeup bag – I have a couple options for eyes and cheeks, and several when it comes to lips [lip products are my thing]. Let’s get into it:

Face: I went with my current favorite foundation, YSL Le Teint Touche Eclat, which I now prefer to apply with my fingertips for a more natural finish; Bobbi Brown’s Corrector in Light Peach – great for concealing the under-eye area and any other blemishes. It is also perfect for throwing in a handbag because of its compact size and handy mirror; and finally for powder, I went with my Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Diffused Light.

Eyes: For eyeshadow I am only bringing two options, as I am all about a more natural eye with a bit of winged out liner as of late. I chose my Charlotte Tilbury Luxury Palette in The Sophisticate, which is the most perfect neutral, everyday palette of life; I can use the two lightest shades for a very simple day look, or, if I want to smoke things out for night, I’ll take the dark brown shade and apply it to the outer-v, as well as smudge it overtop liner on the upper and lower lash lines. My second eyeshadow option is my holy-grail eyeshadow, Le Metier de Beaute’s Jojo, the most beautiful, warm, shimmering champagne shade that I can quickly sweep on my lids and run out the door. For eyeliner, I decided on Charlotte Tilbury’s Rock ‘N’ Kohl pencil in Bedroom Black if I want to really smoke out my look with a pencil on my waterline; Mac’s Eye Kohl in Teddy and Tarte Smoldereyes in Moonstone Brown [not pictured], if I want to use something a little less intense than black on my waterline; and L’Oreal’s Super Slim Liquid Eyeliner for an everyday liner to wear on my upper lash line. For my brows I have to take Hourglass’s Brow Sculpting Pencil in Soft Brunette. And finally, for lashes [not pictured!], what else would I bring other than my trusty Maybelline the Falsies?!

Cheeks: To bronze up my face I am bringing my beloved Jouer Mattifying Bronzer in Sunswept because, well, it is just the best out there. As for blush, I am bringing two pink options [no coral, what?!], Le Metier de Beaute Creme Fresh Tint in Mystique, a lovely light pink with very subtle shimmer, and Nars’ Matte Multiple in Laos, a gorgeous natural rose shade that I have been loving applying wet. I am leaving behind my coral and peach blushes because I am really loving the pinky-rosy, naturally flushed look.

Lips: When it comes to lips, I need options [we're talking 9 or 10]. This may be a bit much for some people, but personally, I love being able to switch up my lip color at any time throughout the day [also why I carry so many lip products in my purse at any given time]. For a bright option, I am taking Tom Ford’s Lip Color Sheer in Incorrigible, which is a beautiful hot pink-fuchsia with subtle glitter. If I want to wear something more on my lips for day, I can blend this onto lips and sheer it out for a more natural effect, or if I want a really bold lip for night, I can apply two layers for a really bright, bold pout. For an everyday, pinky-peach lipstick I am going with Mac’s Peach Blossom, and if I want something more in the nude family I’m taking Marc Jacobs’ Moody Margot. In the gloss department, I’ve got to have my pinks and corals. If I am in the mood for something lighter and more pink, I’ll reach for Nars’ Istria [one of the new shades!] or Hourglass’ Origami [not pictured]. For peachy-corals I’m bringing Bobbi Brown’s Nectar, and YSL’s Gloss Volupte in 204. Lastly, I have to take Bobbi Brown’s Lip Gloss in Popsicle, a sheer bright pink that looks gorgeous on everyone and has been one of my go-to lip glosses for the past two years.
